John Edmonds has over thirty years of experience as a litigator. His practice focuses upon litigation, especially intellectual property litigation, including patent litigation and appeals; trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation; and inter partes review. He has served in lead counsel in over a hundred and fifty lawsuits throughout the United States, including over thirty jury trials.  He has also served as lead counsel in over seventy appeals.  As lead counsel, Mr. Edmonds has obtained in excess of $100,000,000 in judgments and settlements on behalf of clients.*  Trial successes include verdicts of infringement affirmed on appeal and patent claims confirmed during inter partes review.  Recently Mr. Edmonds served as lead counsel for defendants who obtained summary judgment against copyright and DMCA claims seeking damages in excess of $3BN, he served as lead counsel on appeal, and he obtained a fee award for his clients.  


Mr. Edmonds is a registered patent attorney and has a Master of Laws degree in intellectual property law. Prior to co-founding the firm, Mr. Edmonds litigated at one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the country.


Mr. Edmonds zealously advocates the rights of his clients, who have ranged from multi-national corporations to lone inventors. Mr. Edmonds has represented clients in disputes involving a wide range of industries and technologies, including consumer products, electronics, software, wireless communications, networking, construction products, internet and search technologies, websites, ecommerce, online games, chemical compositions and processes, oilfield equipment and services, building materials, security and encryption, and industrial machinery.


Mr. Edmonds is a former U.S. Marine.

Steve Schlather is a patent lawyer and intellectual property litigator. His clients range from small, start-up companies and individual inventors to large, multinational corporations. For more than 10 years, Steve has represented both plaintiffs and defendants under a variety of fee arrangements, including on an hourly, fixed-fee and contingent fee basis.

Recently, the majority of his cases are contingent-fee cases. Steve has a successful nationwide practice, including substantial experience in the federal courts in the Eastern District of Texas, District of Delaware and the Northern District of California. Steve represents clients in a wide range of intellectual property cases involving a diversity of technologies, including:

  • Internet-based software & systems, both client-side and server-side,

Representative Cases

  • Within six months of filing a patent infringement lawsuit related to RFID technology, Steve obtained a seven-figure settlement for his client.
  • In a case relating to GPS technology, Steve was part of a team that obtained a favorable settlement on the second day of trial. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
  • Steve was a key member of a team that obtained a jury verdict of infringement and validity and secured a permanent injunction against the defendants. The case later settled and the terms are confidential. Steve continues to represent the client in additional litigation on the same patent.
  • Days before trial, Steve helped to favorably settle a computer software-related patent infringement and trade secret case against a major US software developer. The defendant agreed to license his clients patents and technology. The terms remain confidential.
